And at first I thought Tracy might be right--Johnny Layton's name meets the criteria, and he was definitely a billiards champion. Unfortunately, I don't believe he was also a pool player. But I haven't yet found a better match, so I think you're going to have to hold on to your $20, at least for now. Keep me posted on your bet....</description>

His last name begins with one of the letters from A to M, and it's 6 letters long.  I have a bet that I can't find this name, and the bet is for a large enough prize that I'll send you $20 if you can give me this name :-)</description>
