Oprah’s latest book club choice? Cormac McCarthy’s The Road.
“It’s unlike anything I’ve ever chosen as a book club selection before because it’s post-apocalyptic. (It is) Very unusual for me to select this book, but it’s fascinating,” Winfrey said.

First Faulkner, now this? I think she might lose a few people–the Faulkner books didn’t sell the way her other picks have–but I’m ready to join the club.

Faulkner is like peddling used shoes.
I’m just glad she didn’t pick Everyman by Roth. Can you imagine the conversation as Roth spits his atheism? Half her audience would walk out.
