What a great story, Maggie. (When my parents wanted to take us out to eat, they clipped 2-for-1 coupons from Burger King. My dad has often lamented his lack of a misspent youth, though he did take up pool a few years ago--never too late, I say.)

I actually read McGoorty on your recommendation and I must say enjoyed it. My dad, in his carpet cleaning days, hustled pool when he wanted to take us out to eat! I always wondered how he got his cue in the joint, until I read McGoorty's tricks. :D
