BOO!

For their Halloween issue, Time Out Chicago is featuring scary stories by three local writers. The writers are Joe Meno (The Boy Detective Fails, 2006), Patrick Somerville (Trouble, 2006), and–boo!–me. Here are links to all three stories. I hope TOC doesn’t mind if I show you Blair Kelly’s cool artwork, too.

Ghost Stations,” by Keir Graff

One night she heard a series of tiny grunts and echoey thumps, as if the baby had climbed out of the crib and was walking around.

Vaara in the Woods,” by Patrick Somerville

A Brief Moment of Terror at MLK Junior High School,” by Joe Meno

Please just leave, Miss Marble thinks to herself, then feels guilty for thinking such a thought, then looks up at Buddy, and his unreadable, unfamiliar expression, at which point she feels panicked all over again. Please just leave. Please just leave.
