April: More Than Just the Cruellest Month
Posted by: Keir Graff

Celebrate National Poetry Month by reading Ray Olson’s review of Fakhraddin Gorgani’s Vis & Ramin (Mage), or even the book itself, or some other book of poetry, or a single poem, or even by writing a poem. I’ll admit it, I’m a little behind in my celebrating, too, but, counting today, there are seven fulls days left in which to make our lives a tiny bit more poetic.

Richard HugoMay I recommend one of my favorite poets? Richard Hugo, who lived down the street from me when I was too young to appreciate it.

(He also wrote a pretty darn good mystery, too!)

  1. Don Says:

Hurray for Richard Hugo. I was a sophomore in college when he came to my campus to read/recite. I had little knowledge of poetry and can’t remember what prompted me to attend. It was electrifying. He recited most of his work from memory and, as a kid from Wyoming who had never encountered poetry about crummy little towns on the high plains like the ones I knew, I was hooked. Start with The Lady in Kicking Horse Reservoir and go from there.
