On Sisterhood, Traveling, and Pants
Posted by: Daniel Kraus
Booklist‘s Gillian Engberg had a sit-down with Ann Brashares of The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants fame, and I’m sure glad she did. For anyone who doubts the amount of serious work that goes into creating such blockbusters, dig Brashares as she discusses the influences of Trollope, Hardy, and Faulkner. Maybe it’s all the practice she’s had answering questions for her legions of fans, but Brashares is wonderfully articulate, and even gets me (a dude) rather jazzed to see what she’s up to in her new book 3 Willows.
Further secrets and bombshells await you below.

Behind the camera is Booklist’s own Gillian Engberg, and the interview was conducted at the 2009 ALA Midwinter Meeting in Denver. I’m not exactly sure of the precise location of the interview, although it kind of looks like the inside of an airplane cabin, doesn’t it?
