Green Alert: And the winner is. . .
Posted by: Donna

Early this week, we posted the short list for the Orion Book Award. It is now my true pleasure to announce the winner: Trespass: Living at the Edge of the Promised Land by Amy Irvine.

As you can see from the starred Booklist review, Irvine’s passionate book does what the best of green books must do, weave humankind firmly into the fabric of the living world, biologically, economically, spiritually, and artistically.

Happily, the other sort of green accompanies the Orion Book Award. Amy Irvine will receive a $3000 prize and you are invited to celebrate with her in New York City on April 15, 2009, at the Cynthia-Reeves Gallery, 535 W. 24th Street, 2nd floor, from 5:30 to 8:00. I’ll be there, and so will some of the finalists and my fellow judges. In the meantime, if readers are looking for a fresh perspective on everything from ancient pueblo culture to oil drilling, Mormonism and just how much some folks despise environmentalists, recommend Trespass.
