IC-SPAN: As Davy Crockett would say, “Be sure you’re right, then go ahead.”

When reviewing a book like Karl Rove’s Courage and Consequences, it is difficult when in some cases you, the reviewer, disagree with the facts as presented. So with some of what I considered to be Rove’s more contentious claims, including the startup to the Iraq War, I did some fact checking of my own. Although there’s always room for interpretation (and Rove, in a 500 page book has much more room for interpretation than I do in a 200 word review), I was reassured that people who were paying attention then and now from Frank Rich to Colin Powell’s Chief of Staff, Lawrence Wilkerson had problems with the book’s spin. And I’m being more polite than they were.
