Blogging up a Storm for National Poetry Month
Posted by: Laura Tillotson

Over at Kidlitosphere, participating children’s and young-adult lit bloggers are hosting a “Celebration of Poetry Month.” What’s that? you may ask. A 30-day extravaganza of original poems, interviews with award-winning poets, and poetry giveaways. Here’s a sampling of the poetry highlights for April:

  • Sylvia M. Vardell, Book Links “Everyday Poetry” columnist and author of the “Poetry for Children” blog, will review a book of poetry every day.
  • Tricia Stohr-Hunt, Book Links contributor and author of the blog “Miss Rumphius Effect,” will interview a poet every day. She starts the month off with a conversation with Mary Ann Hoberman, who was named Children’s Poet Laureate of America in 2008 (and who happens to be writing an article for the June issue of Book Links on her anthology The Tree That Time Built, co-edited with Linda Winston).
  • Poet, novelist, and blogger Irene Latham will offer a poetry anthology giveaway every Friday.

You’ll also find bloggers posting original poems, poems about teaching, poems about food, and really, poems about just about everything else under the sun.

Also, don’t miss Cindy Dobrez and Lynn Rutan at Bookends, who will be writing about the random acts of poetry committed at Cindy’s middle schools during April.
