Book Trailer Thursday: The Suburb beyond the Stars
Posted by: Daniel Kraus
M.T. Anderson, that titan of YA lit behind Feed (2002) and The Astonishing Life of Octavian Nothing, Traitor to the Nation (2006), is a pretty engaging speaker. Perhaps you saw his Printz Honor speech from 2009? So when he embarks on a video tour of his Vermont homeland (the setting for his new book The Suburb beyond the Stars), it’s all pretty good-natured and interesting.
And then, around the 4:50 mark, something insane happens, and from then on all bets are off. That’s all I’m going to say. Watch this video, all of it, and then tell me you didn’t jump out of your seat at least twice.
Verdict: Be afraid. Be VERY afraid.

Took me awhile to get around to watching this – the 11-minute running time wasn’t easy to fit in – but totally worth it. Now THAT’s a book trailer!
