Booklist editors Brad Hooper and Donna Seaman at ALA Virtual Conference

Whether you couldn’t make it to ALA Annual Conference in New Orleans or you did make it and want to recapture that conference glow, you’ll probably want to register for the ALA Virtual Conference to be held next week on July 13 and 14. My Booklist colleagues Brad Hooper and Donna Seaman will be playing important roles by moderating lunchtime author talks. On Wednesday, July 13, Brad will interview two-time Pulitzer Prize-winner David McCullough and on Thursday, July 14, Donna will interview two-time National Book Award recipient Jean Thompson. The authors are the main draw, of course, but the editors have appeal, too: last year, Brad and Donna’s sessions rated top among all Virtual Conference sessions.
For your reading pleasure, here is Brad’s review of McCullough’s The Greater Journey: Americans in Paris and here is Donna’s review of Thompson’s The Year We Left Home. (I loved Thompson’s 2009 short-story collection, Do Not Deny Me.)
Other highlights of the Virtual Conference include two full days of interactive sessions plus keynote speakers danah boyd and David Lankes. For more information, or to register (group rate available), go to http://www.alaannual.org/virtual/
