Natasha Trethewey Named U.S. Poet Laureate

Pulitzer Prize-winner Natasha Tretheway was named U.S. Poet Laureate this week. Tretheway, a professor of creative writing at Emory, is the first Poet Laureate since 1986 to reside in Washington D.C. and work from the Poets Room in the Poetry and Literature Center. Tretheway won the 2007 Pulitzer Prize in poetry for her collection, Native Guard and her 2002 collection, Bellocq’s Ophelia was included in RUSA’s 2003 Notable Books list.
